holding October in the kitchen

Pumpkin seems to be everywhere now, its presence quiet but unavoidable, woven into the season itself. I bake a pumpkin cake and watch the rich orange glow warm the kitchen, standing out against the grey, rain-softened view beyond the window. As it cooks, a soft, earthy warmth spreads through the room, steady and comforting, settling into the air and my clothes.

I move without hurry, aware of how this simple act holds the season for a moment, reminding me that some things are meant to be felt slowly before they pass.
